B. Slide comparison (for a maximum of 52 points; use the back pages of the test, if desired). Completely identify these two statues, as in Section A above. Then fully explain the pose and activity that each figure is engaged in; be certain to include a discussion of the original positions of lost limbs, drapery and other attributes such as wings and items once held in the hand(s). Next, compare and contrast the figures in terms of the arrangement and treatment of the preserved drapery. Also, comment on the similarities and differences in the two body types, especially noting differences in proportions and the degree of muscularity and/or feminine fleshiness. Which figure do you feel depicts a more positive ideal of femininity, and why have you concluded this? Also, what do you think the ancient viewer would have felt about this matter? Your answer to the last question can be delivered from the point of view of an ancient man or woman, if you want.
